DEPUTY MINISTER OF TOURISM, SPORT AND ARTS APPOINTED

 


VICTORIA – The government announced today that Virginia Greene has been appointed deputy minister with the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and the Arts.

 

            Greene’s qualifications include 10 years in B.C.’s public service.  From 1983-87, she served as assistant deputy minister responsible for marketing with the Ministry of Tourism from where she worked to promote B.C.’s tourism industry before, during and after Expo 86. She also worked with the industry to develop the award-winning SuperHost customer service and hospitality program and helped established the provincewide network of Tourism Information Centres. During that time, Greene also managed the B.C. Film Commission.

 

            Greene is the past president and CEO of Connect@JWT North America. In 1987, she founded her own national marketing company, Go Direct Marketing, which she sold to J Walter Thompson Advertising in 2000.
