VANCOUVER – The latest edition of the BC Seniors’ Guide: Programs and Benefits for British Columbia’s Seniors is available in Punjabi, Chinese and French, as well as English.
“We’re meeting the demand for this very popular publication as part of government’s efforts to provide the best system of support for seniors,” said Ida Chong, Minister of Community Services and Minister Responsible for Seniors’ Issues. “Seniors and their families rely on the guide, and providing versions in other languages means that even more seniors will have a comprehensive source of information available to them.”
Approximately half a million British Columbians are seniors, and that proportion is growing. Providing information on a range of topics – including transportation options, financial supports, housing and health services – means seniors can keep themselves informed through access to resources in a range of languages.
Distribution of the guide is through cultural organizations, government agencies and MLA constituency offices. The guide is also available online at www.gov.bc.ca/seniors.
Copies of the guide are also available by phoning the BC Seniors’ Information Line at 1 800 465 4911.
