KEY PARTS OF TOURISM BC’S CHINA TOURISM

MARKETING CAMPAIGN

 


Chinese Language Promotional Materials:

   A new Chinese language website to promote British Columbia as a destination.

   Trade information on popular B.C. destinations and tourism experiences.

   Four-minute promotional video, highlighting tourism experiences available in B.C.

   20-minute training video for Chinese travel agents and professionals.

 

Travel Trade:

   Two educational tours of British Columbia for Chinese travel professionals in 2006.

   Chinese incentive buyers who promote British Columbia as a business destination.

   A second Chinese incentive group of 500 visitors arrived in British Columbia in early October. 

   High-end leisure and business agents that promote international travel. 

   British Columbia will host 20 Chinese buyers and two travel trade journalists at Canada’s West Marketplace in December 2006.

 

Media Relations:

   A press tour for six Chinese business and leisure publications recently completed, another print media visit confirmed for December, and a television crew expected in January.

   An ongoing media relations program in China has been established through Ruder Finn Asia, a public relations firm. 

 

Trade/Consumer Shows:

   China International Travel Mart, Nov. 16-19, 2006 – extensive travel trade meetings, training seminars, media interviews, B.C./Canada VIP dinner event.

   Showcase Canada 2007; a program currently in the planning stages in conjunction with the Canadian Tourism Commission and three others provinces.  

 

B.C. Supplier Readiness:

   An educational seminar this December at Canada’s West Marketplace will help prepare BC sellers for Chinese market opportunities.

   Superhost China program is in development, launch date TBA.
