The following are projects the Ministry of Transportation is
carrying out this year in the Cariboo region.
Highway 97/Cariboo
Connector
- Likely Road to Lexington Road, Williams Lake –
designing the expansion to four lanes and constructing a new intersection
in partnership with the Williams Lake Indian Band.
- Dale Lake Road to Dragon Lake Road, Quesnel
– completing the design of the
four-lane section between Dale Lake Road and Dragon Lake Road.
- Wright Station Curves, Lac La Hache – planning
and designing of a four-lane highway expansion and realignment near Wright
Station Road and Buffalo Ranch.
- Horse Lake Road, 100 Mile
House – completing the design to reconfigure
and upgrade the intersection to four lanes and realign 7th
Street with Horse Lake Road. This
project is cost-shared with the District of 100 Mile House.
Rehabilitation
Projects
- Realigning
Nazko Road at Dunn’s Corner west of Quesnel to improve safety.
- Resurfacing sections of Horsefly and
Likely Roads to improve safety and
reliability.
- Initiating
the repair of the Durrell Road Slide.
- Resurfacing
Highway 97 from Marguerite to French Road.
- In
partnership with the City of Williams Lake, constructing a new
three-legged intersection at Highway 97 and Broadway Avenue with
associated frontage road improvements.
- Re-graveling side roads in the Anahim Lake
Area adjacent to Highway 20 to improve safety and reliability.
- Sealcoating
Timothy Lake Road to improve the driving surface and reduce maintenance
costs.
- Re-graveling Spout Lake Road to improve safety and reliability.
- Completion
of the reconstruction and realignment of a one-km “S-curve” section of
Highway 24 near Lone Butte that commenced last fall.
- Hard
surfacing approximately two km of previously realigned/reconstructed road
in the Bridge Lake area.
- Re-graveling Deka Lake-area roads to improve
safety and reliability.
- Completing
the reconstruction of approximately 6.5 km of gravel surface on Highway
20.
- Designing
and constructing the new bridges of Nemiah and Blenkinsop.
- Completing the safety improvements on
Highway 97 at 103 Mile that began last year. These improvements have
included resurfacing, widening, installing median barrier and adjusting
the road geometry.
- Resurfacing approximately 20 km of Highway
97 from the junction at Highway 99 to Hat Creek Road.
- Initiating project planning and contract
preparation for the resurfacing of the next segment of Highway 99
from Hat Creek Road to Pavilion Road.
Mountain Pine Beetle Projects
- Resurfacing approximately 22 km of the Nazko Road to
improve safety and reliability and facilitate resource extraction.
- Reconstructing and gravelling portions of the Moffat
Lake Road.
- Stabilizing various roads that have been impacted by
increased hauling of Mountain Pine Beetle timber, as well as brushing and
ditching to enhance visibility and improve drainage.
- Resurfacing
West Fraser Road from the City of Quesnel boundary to Glassford Road.
- Reconstructing
and resurfacing segments of the Quesnel-Hydraulic Road.
- Resurfacing Pigeon Road from Highway 97 to Redeau
Lake Road.
- Reconstructing and resurfacing segments of the Canim
South Road, Bradley Creek Road, Murphy Lake Road and Wilcox Road.
- Resurfacing
segments of the Likely/Horsefly Roads
to improve safety and reliability.
Cycling Infrastructure Partnership Program
Providing funding to the City of Quesnel to go towards
construction of the proposed Campus Connector Cycling Trail that will start
from where the Bryce Road Trail leaves off.
The trail will extend along North Star Road and connect to the River
Front Trail at the Quesnel River Bridge.
