Memorandum of Understanding
on Pacific Coast Collaboration to Protect Our Shared Climate and Ocean
Washington and British Columbia commit to work together to cap greenhouse gas emissions; reduce greenhouse gases from the transportation sector; pursue aggressive clean and renewable energy policies; combine efforts to improve air quality; coordinate efforts to encourage clean technologies; and monitor and record improvements.
Washington and British Columbia also commit to work together on ocean health; build partnerships with individuals, businesses and others to help achieve climate change goals; bring Pacific Coast governors and their key cabinet members together to forge a new Pacific Coast Collaborative on other areas of mutual interest and benefit for the Pacific coast region.
Forest Memorandum of Understanding
Washington and B.C. will collaborate to improve forest
health conditions, adapt to climate change, increase capacity and effectiveness
for wildfire protection, and produce bio-energy from forest products.
British Columbia/ Washington Coastal and Ocean Task Force Terms of Reference
The Coastal and Ocean Task Force enhances collaboration between B.C. and Washington on coastal and oceans issues in Puget Sound, the Georgia Basin, and the outer coasts of B.C. and Washington State. B.C. and Washington will share information and collaborate on activities that protect and restore coastal and marine habitats; encourage the development of ecosystem management approaches for ocean and coastal resources; and foster sustainable coastal communities and development.
Memorandum of
Understanding on Clean-Technology Market Opportunities and the Pacific Gateway
B.C. and Washington will collaborate to create opportunities for exchange among companies and governments in Asia, B.C. and Washington to promote trade and foreign direct investment in environmental technologies, and promote collaboration among companies to encourage innovation and regional growth for clean technology industries.
Joint resolution
regarding early learning
Washington and British Columbia will share information about the short and long term action plans for early learning. Both governments will promote opportunities to collaborate about early learning and exchange information about programs.
Memorandum of
Understanding on communication about Highway and Border Station Incidents
This agreement establishes a communications protocol between agencies and governments for highway and border incidents with the aim of improving communication, collaboration, border security, and delivery of information to affected entities and the travelling public.
NEXUS/FAST Action
Plan
Agrees to increase promotion and marketing of the NEXUS and FAST programs, to increase use of the programs and encourage greater participation in the program by frequent travellers.
