GREEN CITY AWARDS 2007

The finalists for the 2007 Green City Awards demonstrate a wide range of leading-edge green action. $500,000 is earmarked for eight categories of awards. Thirty-seven nominations were received in seven categories, with no nomination in the under-1,500 population category. The categories, community finalists, and cash award amounts allocated to the award winners are noted below.

 

Regional District (Regional)

• Nanaimo Regional District (winner - $50,000 award)
• Greater Vancouver Regional District

 

Regional District (Electoral Areas)

• Capital Regional District – Area F Saltspring Island (winner - $25,000 award)
• Regional District of Central Kootenay – Area D

 

Population of 1,500 – 4,999

• Town of Oliver (winner - $25,000 award)
• Town of Gibsons
• District of Houston

 

Population of 5,000 – 9,999

• Resort Municipality of Whistler (winner - $25,000 award)
• Town of Ladysmith

 

Population of 10,000 – 24,999

• City of Dawson Creek (winner - $50,000 award)
• District of Squamish
• City of Fort St. John

 

Population of 25,000 – 99,999

• City of North Vancouver (winner - $100,000 award)
• City of Kamloops
• City of Maple Ridge

 

Population of 100,000 +

• City of Vancouver (winner - $200,000 award)
• City of Kelowna
