MCFD AND CLBC PLAN TRANSITION FOR CHILDREN’S SERVICES

VICTORIAOn June 23, 2008, government announced changes in ministry responsibilities. Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) is now reporting to the Honourable Rich Coleman, the Minister responsible for the Ministry of Housing and Social Development.

Part of the change in responsibilities means that services delivered to children and families by CLBC has moved to Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). CLBC continues to be responsible for the delivery of services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

CLBC and MCFD will work together to develop a transition process and to ensure there is no impact in services for families and stakeholders. This transition process will:

·        be thoughtful, well planned, and timely.

·        recognize our shared commitment to supporting children and their families.

·        consider the perspectives of families, services providers and staff.

In the interim period, CLBC continues to be the point of contact for families and children accessing supports and services currently provided by CLBC. We ask for your patience as we work through the transition process, and please be assured that our prime concern is the health and wellbeing of your family. Information about the transition plan will be developed and posted on respective websites by July 31, 2008.
