MANAGERS OF THE BC RENAISSANCE CAPITAL FUND

 


The Province’s capital investment of $90 million makes the BC Renaissance Capital Fund (BCRCF) a limited partner in the funds operated by the selected six managers. This offers innovative B.C. companies the unprecedented opportunity to access a portion of the $2.3 billion of capital available for investment.

 

In addition to venture capital, the selected fund mangers bring with them access to global markets and managerial expertise required to build anchor technology companies in the province. The six managers who have received capital commitments from the BCRCF are:

 

§         Kearny Venture PartnersWith over $320 million in capital under management, Kearny Venture Partners is a venture capital firm exclusively focused on life science technology.

 

§         Ventures West Ventures West is an active venture capital partner that invests in early stage technology companies. It has formed eight venture capital funds, which total over $700 million, and has invested in more than 150 companies, including more than 60 based in British Columbia.

 

§         VantagePoint Venture Partners - With more than $4 billion of capital under management, the firm invests in entrepreneurial companies at all stages of development in the clean technology, life sciences, and information technology sectors.

 

§         Celtic House Venture Partners - Since 1994, Celtic House has funded over 60 companies and committed over $500 million, generating billions in stockholder value. Celtic House has been the lead investor in two successful IT companies from B.C. – Octiga Bay and Abatis Networks.

 

§         ARCH Venture Partners – Formed out of the University of Chicago, ARCH invests in the development of seed and early stage advanced technology companies that have the potential to grow rapidly into successful businesses. Now in its 22nd year, ARCH has approximately $1.5 billion under management through seven venture funds and has invested in the earliest venture capital rounds for more than 130 companies. 

 

§         Walden Venture CapitalOver the past 33 years, Walden has worked closely with top entrepreneurs in building successful companies that have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in market capitalization. Walden invests in companies across three areas of investment – digital media, technology-enabled services, and internet commerce.
