VICTORIA – The Ministry of
Employment and Income Assistance has posted a Request for Information (RFI) on
the BC Bid website to solicit feedback on proposed changes to the design of its
Bridging Employment Program.
The $5-million Bridging Employment Program, which has been in place
since the fall of 2003, provides services to help abused women and former sex
trade workers overcome barriers to employment that prevent them from making
successful transitions to independence.
The design of the Revised Bridging Employment Program will build on the
experience of the original program by applying lessons learned and best
practices research, including valuable stakeholder feedback.
Current and potential ministry service providers interested in
delivering services envisioned for the revised Bridging Employment Program are
being asked to comment on several proposed changes including:
·
the
addition of a new “healing” component that will complement the program’s
employment-related services,
·
the
change to continuous client enrolment with flexible and individualized
services,
·
the
development of a Personal Plan with each client, and
·
the
inclusion of suitable non-Income Assistance clients in the program.
A draft copy of the formal Request for Proposals (RFP) has been included
with the RFI. Following the RFI process, the ministry will finalize the RFP and
post it on the BC Bid website in mid May 2008.
The Revised Bridging Employment Program
will begin in January 2009. Both the existing and revised programs will run concurrently until August 2009 to
facilitate the transition of clients.
The Request for
Information can be found on the BC Bid website at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca.
