HOPE – The Ministry of Environment has reopened the
Othello Tunnels, located in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, following the
completion of trail upgrades and public safety related work.
After a routine geotechnical assessment by an engineering consultant
identified a number of safety issues in the Othello Tunnels area, the ministry
implemented a stabilization program, including bolting and scaling work.
The tunnels, located north of Hope in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park,
are a popular attraction for tourists, film crews, hikers and cyclists, and are
part of the Kettle Valley Railway route.
