The
assisted living development at 2020 Harrison Drive has 77 one-bedroom units in
two residential wings that are linked together by recreational and amenity
areas. Amenities include an activity room, library with Internet access, garden
with a gazebo, hairdressing salon and spa, wellness room, dining room, private
family dining room, and bistro.
Independent
Living BC apartments include two meals a day, weekly housekeeping and linen
services, 24-hour emergency response, personal care services and social and
recreational opportunities.
Partners and Funding:
Capital
and operating costs of this project include:

The federal government,
through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, provided a $3,850,000 capital
grant.
·
The provincial
government provided an additional grant of $2.7 million.
·
The City of Vancouver
provided reductions on various development cost levies. The value of the
contribution is approximately $450,000.
·
The Icelandic Care Home
Höfn Society provided approximately $3 million in land equity and approximately
$250,000 in additional equity.
·
The provincial
government will provide a housing subsidy of $12.1 million over 35 years.
·
Vancouver Coastal
Health will provide funding to subsidize the costs of personal care and
hospitality services to tenants.
Icelandic Care Home Höfn Society
The society has been
providing housing, care and support to seniors in Vancouver since 1947 and has
been providing housing and services on the Harrison Drive property since 1963.
