SPIRIT BEAR CENTER

Spirit Bear Center in Abbotsford provides 10 beds of transitional housing with support services for young Aboriginal women, aged 13-19, in recovery from addictions and at risk of homelessness. Renovations on the three-storey, wood frame, 28-year-old house were completed in February 2008. The house is located in close proximity to a number of amenities and near MSA Hospital. The first clients are scheduled to move in to the Center in April 2008.

Clients will be provided with meals, counselling, life-skills training and employment and education programs in an environment that incorporates Aboriginal wisdom and healing traditions.
