The Cedars at Beulah Gardens,
located at 3355 East 5th Avenue in Vancouver, provides 89 assisted
living units under the Independent Living BC program. All four storeys are
wheelchair accessible and include underground parking, a library, a hair salon,
two activity rooms and a lounge. Residents receive
hospitality services such as housekeeping, meals, laundry services and
recreational opportunities. They also receive personal care services such as
help with medications. Vancouver Coastal Health funds the personal care
and hospitality services for the Independent Living BC units and also funds the
Adult Day Centre and Ambulatory Care Clinic.
Programming at the Adult Day
Centre provides respite for caregivers and a therapeutic environment for
individuals, some of whom suffer from dementia. The Ambulatory Care Clinic
offers a range of assessment and treatment services, including IV therapy,
medication management, wound care and chronic disease management.
The first residents moved
into the assisted living units on Feb. 4, 2008.

named the Senior Citizens Home Association Limited. In addition to the Cedars, Beulah Gardens
Home Society also operates and manages Beechwood, a 96-unit independent seniors
living facility, as well as an additional 98 independent living units for
