THE YOUTH HOSPITALITY TRAINING CENTRE

The Youth Hospitality Training Centre, formerly the Taj Mahal Restaurant, at 679 Herald Street in Victoria, will provide eight transitional housing beds for youth, as well as an on-site hospitality training centre and life skills program for both resident and non-resident youth.

Transitional housing residents will be chosen through a referral and interview process. The youth must be between 16 and 19 years old at the time of admittance, can stay for up to six months, and may participate in the training programs.

The six-to-eight week hospitality training component will involve 10 to 15 youth.

The life skills program will involve 15 youth over a 12-week period.

The Victoria Youth Empowerment Society is leasing the building from Heron 681 Developments Ltd. for three years. Funding for the housing and hospitality and life skills training programs will come from a number of government and private sector partners.
