PREMIER’S STATEMENT ON CHINA’S PERIOD OF MOURNING

BEIJING Premier Gordon Campbell issued the following statement on China’s three days of mourning for the victims of the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan Province, China, as he arrived in Beijing today:

“This week British Columbians join the residents of China and people around the world in mourning the tens of thousands of victims of this natural disaster.

“China and British Columbia have close ties through shared history, culture, commerce and families, and this disaster has created deep concern, empathy and a desire to help.

“The thoughts and prayers of British Columbians are with those affected in this difficult time and with all those working tirelessly during the recovery efforts.”
