BEIJING – Premier Gordon Campbell issued the following
statement on China’s three days of mourning for the victims of the May 12
earthquake in Sichuan Province, China, as he arrived in Beijing today:
“This week British Columbians join the residents of
China and people around the world in mourning the tens of thousands of victims
of this natural disaster.
“China and British Columbia have close ties through
shared history, culture, commerce and families, and this disaster has created
deep concern, empathy and a desire to help.
“The thoughts and prayers of British Columbians are
with those affected in this difficult time and with all those working
tirelessly during the recovery efforts.”
