PREMIER’S STATEMENT ON DEATH OF KAMLOOPS SOLDIER

BEIJING – Premier Gordon Campbell made the following statement today on the death of Master Corporal Erin Doyle of Kamloops, a member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton, who died in an insurgent attack on a remote outpost in the Panjwaii district of Kandahar province, Afghanistan:

“I offer condolences on behalf of all British Columbians to Master Corporal Doyle’s family, and especially his young daughter. Master Corporal Doyle showed bravery and dedication in serving his country, and made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuing the goal of peace in Afghanistan.

“British Columbians and Canadians owe a debt of gratitude and remembrance to those soldiers risking their lives overseas to help transform hostile areas of the world to safe, secure places.”

Master Corporal Erin Doyle served with the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton, Alberta, and was attached to the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Battle Group.
