HELLS ANGELS SIGNAGE REMOVED FROM NANAIMO CLUBHOUSE

NANAIMO – The Province is removing exterior signage from the Hells Angels’ clubhouse in Nanaimo to protect it from theft, vandalism and other damage.

The property is currently in the possession of the provincial director of civil forfeiture, under an interim preservation order issued in B.C. Supreme Court. The order requires the director to keep the property safe. The Province may also take other steps necessary to better secure and protect the property.

The Province seized the clubhouse in November 2007. A related information bulletin is available at http://www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_releases_2005-2009/2007PSSG0068-001449.htm online; it includes a brief summary of the purpose of the Civil Forfeiture Act.

As a related civil forfeiture action remains before the courts, no further comment will be made at this point. Further information will be available as the case proceeds through the courts.
