NEW MEMBER JOINS SMALL BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE

VICTORIA – A new member with strong business and community ties to the Bulkley Valley has been appointed to the Small Business Roundtable, announced Kevin Krueger, Minister of Small Business and Revenue.

Kelly McCormack has spent much of her career working in the Bulkley Valley’s retail automotive industry in a variety of senior roles. In September, McCormack left her position as finance and business manager at the Frontier Chrysler dealership in Smithers to pursue a master of arts in integrated studies, specializing in work, organization and leadership.

“As a 30-year resident of the Bulkley Valley, as well as a long-time business leader, Kelly brings a wealth of experience to the Small Business Roundtable,” said Krueger. “Her recent decision to pursue a master’s degree from Athabasca University will ensure she is a well-rounded representative for British Columbia’s small business community.”

For the past four years, McCormack has also been actively involved in a local fundraising committee that organizes and hosts a downhill skiing race to support junior alpine racing programs in the community.

“We are delighted to welcome Kelly to the Small Business Roundtable,” said Linda Larson, Small Business Roundtable vice-chair. “Her commitment to her local and business community will help provide an even stronger link between government and the small business sector, particularly in northwest British Columbia.”

“Over the years, I have dealt with countless small business owners and operators. As a result, I’ve been able to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing small business in the northwest region of the province,” said McCormack. “I’m excited to use that experience to receive input, information, feedback and advice from small businesses across British Columbia.”

The permanent Small Business Roundtable was established in October 2005, to consult with small business and advise government and the small business sector on issues, strategies and potential actions with the goal of continuing to be the most small-business-friendly jurisdiction in Canada.
