SEA-TO-SKY HIGHWAY REOPENS TO TRAFFIC

VICTORIA – The Sea-to-Sky Highway is now reopened to traffic, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon announced today.

The highway reopened at 10 p.m. today to all traffic.

“I’d like to thank the public for their patience, especially the communities of Whistler and Squamish,” said Falcon. “Thank you also to all of the emergency responders and especially the workers for their exceptional efforts, working around the clock to clear debris from the highway and get traffic moving again.”

The highway closed on July 29 at 11:30 p.m. when a rock slide deposited up to 16,000 cubic metres of debris onto both lanes of the highway between Porteau Cove and the Furry Creek Bridge.
