PREMIER’S STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF ARTHUR ERICKSON

VANCOUVER – Premier Gordon Campbell made the following statement today on the death of British Columbian architect Arthur Erickson:

“Arthur Erickson will always be known as a great British Columbian architect who had a gift and a passion for sharing internationally acclaimed and award-winning architecture with the world.

“From the Filburg House in Comox to the fabulous Simon Fraser University on Burnaby Mountain or the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., he was a proud and accomplished architect. Arthur defied convention and enjoyed experimenting with his craft and sharing his vision of modern architecture with others.

“He will be sadly missed by his family, his peers, his friends and his many admirers. He leaves us with a lasting legacy of phenomenal buildings that will be appreciated and talked about for many years to come.”
