COPENHAGEN – Premier Gordon Campbell promoted the opportunities for job creation in the low-carbon economy and discussed British Columbia’s innovative climate action strategies while attending the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this week.
“There is a lot that can be accomplished at the provincial level and the state level to generate economic activity by moving to a lower-carbon economy,” said Premier Campbell. “Sub-national governments are playing a significant role in Copenhagen demonstrating their innovative climate action strategies and partnerships. The strategies pioneered at the provincial and state level can serve as a template for action by national governments.”
While in Copenhagen, Premier Campbell has met with international leaders such as California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
