NEW FERRY COMMISSIONER APPOINTED

 

VICTORIA – Gordon Macatee has been appointed head of the British Columbia Ferry Commission, effective May 1, 2011.

 

Macatee is replacing Martin Crilly, who has served as commissioner since 2003. Crilly will remain commissioner until Macatee’s appointment takes effect May 1, 2011. The commission regulates BC Ferries, with appointments made by cabinet.

 

Macatee is a seasoned public sector leader with broad experience. Most recently, he was a project executive with VANOC for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He served as deputy minister for the ministries of Health Services from 2006 to 2009, Labour and Citizens’ Services from 2005 to 2006, Water, Land and Air Protection from 2003 to 2005 and Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 2001 to 2003.
