PROPONENTS SELECTED FOR HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS
VANCOUVER – Successful proponents have been identified to manage and operate two subsidized housing developments as a result of Expressions of Interest (EOI) proposal calls.
The Vancouver Native Housing Society has been selected for the Pendera development, a 114-unit apartment building at 133 W. Pender.
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has been selected for Solheim Place, an 86-unit apartment building at 251 Union St.
An EOI proposal call issued at the same time inviting submissions to manage and operate Tellier Tower, a 90-unit apartment building at 16 E. Hastings St., has been cancelled because no proposals were received that were financially sustainable.
It is anticipated a new EOI for this housing development will be issued in the future, providing additional financial and budgetary information to assist interested non-profit organizations in developing financially sustainable proposals. The existing day-to-day management of this housing will remain in place to ensure tenants have safe, secure and affordable housing.
In 2010-11, the Province will invest over $562 million to provide affordable housing and fight homelessness, more than four times as much as in 2001.
