Woman found in Okanagan Lake identified

 

KELOWNA – The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman whose body was found floating in Okanagan Lake near Kelowna on June 19, 2012.

 

She is Melissa Joy Van Diemen, aged 34, originally from Grand Forks, but most recently living in Kelowna.

 

Ms. Van Diemen was last seen swimming in Okanagan Lake behind City Park on June 13, 2012.

 

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP are continuing to investigate Ms. Van Diemen’s death. At this point, it does not appear to be suspicious.

 

Ms. Van Diemen’s family has been notified of her death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
