BC Coroners Service confirms identity of fire victim

 

VICTORIA – The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died as a result of injuries sustained in a fire-related incident in Saanich on Sept. 23, 2012.

 

The man is Thomas Theodore Fisher, aged 43, of no fixed address.

 

Mr. Fisher was sleeping outside a building in Saanich in the early hours of Sept. 23, 2012, when a portable heating device, which he was using to keep warm, caught fire.

 

Police and ambulance workers attended the scene and Mr. Fisher was transported to the intensive care unit at Royal Jubilee Hospital. However, Mr. Fisher succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon.

 

Police have ruled out suspicious activities in this incident. The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.

 

The family of Mr. Fisher has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.

 

The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Fisher.
