BC Coroners Service confirms identity of deceased male

 

VANCOUVER — The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died while in police custody in Vancouver on Oct. 7, 2012.

 

The man is Stanley Robert Morrison, aged 51, from Vancouver.

 

On the evening of Oct. 7, 2012, Mr. Morrison was picked up by Vancouver Police Department officers who were responding to a complaint of an intoxicated male. The officers drove Mr. Morrison back to his home, but on arrival there, he was found to be unresponsive.

 

Mr. Morrison was transported from the scene to Vancouver General Hospital but could not be resuscitated.

 

The Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) continue to investigate this death.

 

The family of Mr. Morrison has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
