BC Coroners Service confirms identity of commercial diver

 

PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died as the result of a commercial diving incident on Oct. 20, 2012. 

 

He was Robert Wayne Antifave, aged 51, of Lantzville on Vancouver Island.

 

In the morning of Oct. 20, Mr. Antifave was diving commercially for geoduck (a type of large clam) from a boat off the coast of Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). On ascending from a dive, he was noted by those on the boat to be in medical distress. He was evacuated by air to Queen Charlotte Hospital, but could not be resuscitated.

 

The BC Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC continue to investigate this death.

 

The family of Mr. Antifave has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
