Premier Clark’s Statement on Rosh Hashana
VICTORIA – Premier Christy
Clark released the following statement celebrating Rosh Hashana and the Jewish
high holidays.
“This Sunday evening marks the
beginning of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. For the Jewish community around
the globe and in British Columbia, this is a time of renewal, of
self-improvement and a time to be with family; a time to read the beginning of
the Torah again and to hear the shofar call in the New Year.
“B.C.’s Jewish communities have greatly contributed to the social, economic and
artistic fabric of our province, and for those reasons, Rosh Hashana is an
opportunity for all of us to acknowledge that contribution.
“On behalf of all British Columbians I wish B.C.’s Jewish communities a Shana
Tova Umetukah, a very sweet New Year.”
