VICTORIA – Funding to operate British Columbia’s schools will remain stable for the 2002-03 school year.
The Ministry of Education will make a total of $3.79 billion available to school districts for the 2002-03 school year. This amount will remain stable for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 school years.
Today’s announcement marks the first time since 1993 that funding has been made public by the Feb. 1 deadline set in B.C.’s School Act. The province’s 60 districts will be told shortly how much of the overall amount will be allocated to each school board.
