DISABILITY SUPPORTS FOR EMPLOYMENT FUND

 


  • The objectives of the fund are to:
  • Provide employment-related disability supports to help people with disabilities obtain and maintain sustainable employment as they are able.
  • Increase the economic and social potential of people with disabilities.

 

·          Applicants to the fund will be B.C.-based charitable organizations that demonstrate an ability to provide employment supports for individuals with disabilities who are not eligible to obtain such supports from other sources.

 

·          Approximately $1 million will be disbursed to registered charities each year.

 

·          The Minister’s Council on Employment for Persons with Disabilities will advise the Vancouver Foundation on eligible grant proposals.

 

Employment Supports

 

·          Employment supports are goods and services that enable people with disabilities to overcome barriers to employment or employment-related activities.

 

·          Examples of employment supports include:

  • Technical Aids like ergonomic keyboards, text readers and Braille printers.

·          Modifications like automatic doors and ramps.

·          Personal services.

 

Vancouver Foundation

 

  • Vancouver Foundation is a non-governmental community foundation that works with charitable organizations throughout British Columbia.

 

  • Vancouver Foundation is responsible for the stewardship of 800 funds with a market value of more than $500 million.
