112 BRITISH COLUMBIANS AWARDED QUEEN’S JUBILEE MEDALS

VICTORIA – The Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was awarded today to 112 outstanding British Columbians by Lt.-Gov. Iona Campagnolo and Premier Gordon Campbell during a ceremony at Government House.

The ceremony is one of several occurring during the Jubilee year recognizing people who have made outstanding contributions to their communities, province or country, either through their careers or through volunteer work. The medals commemorate the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty’s reign as Queen of Canada and are part of the Canadian honours system established in 1967.

Those receiving medals today include artists, athletes, business and community leaders and public-sector employees. A list of recipients is attached.
