TWO DEPUTY MINISTERS APPOINTED

 


VICTORIA – Government today announced two deputy minister appointments.

 

Effective immediately, Jessica McDonald is appointed deputy minister, special projects, Office of the Premier. McDonald’s role will focus on government’s management of natural resource and environmental issues.

 

Also effective immediately, Lorne Brownsey is appointed deputy minister, Treaty Negotiations Office, Ministry of Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Treaty Negotiations.

 

McDonald brings to the position more than 12 years of experience working in public policy and administration. She is recognized as an expert in Crown land and natural resource management. Since 1998, she has built a successful private sector firm providing advice to government, international agencies, First Nations and stakeholder groups.

 

Brownsey has been assistant deputy minister with the Treaty Negotiations Office since 2001, playing a leading role in implementing changes to revitalize treaty negotiations in B.C. His extensive experience in dealing with treaty negotiations date back 10 years where from 1993 to 2001, Brownsey held several senior positions, including executive director, in the federal treaty negotiations office. Brownsey attended the University of Victoria, where he earned a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies and political science.
