CAMPSITE RESERVATION SYSTEM OPEN FOR BUSINESS

VICTORIA – The Discover Camping campground reservation service opens March 1 for this year's camping season.

From March 1 to Sept. 15, reservations can be made online at www.discovercamping.ca or by phoning the call centre at 1-800-689-9025 (or 604-689-9025 in Greater Vancouver). Reservation agents are available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays (Pacific Time). The service may be busy during peak business hours.

Sixty-seven of the most popular provincial parks and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve (Green Point campground) accept campsite reservations. At most parks, campsites are also available on a first-come, first-served basis, based on availability.

Reservations can be made up to three months in advance or two days before your arrival, with some exceptions. Campsites at Birkenhead Lake, Liard River Hotsprings, Loveland Bay, Stamp River and Strathcona (Buttle Lake) need to be reserved at least five days ahead.

The reservation service fee is $6.42 per night to a maximum of $19.26 for three or more nights (includes seven per cent GST) per campsite. The campsite fee must also be paid at the time of booking, using MasterCard or Visa.

The Discover Camping campground reservation service is operated in partnership with the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection, Tourism BC and Parks Canada. Visit the Discover Camping Web site at www.discovercamping.ca or phone the call centre to learn more about participating campgrounds and policies.

For more information about services available at provincial campgrounds, please visit the BC Parks Web site at wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/bcparks . Check this site before your trip to find out whether camping and other services are available at the park of your choice.
