VICTORIA – Deputy Minister to the Premier Ken Dobell and Comptroller General Arn van Iersel have agreed that the services of an independent auditor should be retained to review all matters related to the involvement of Doug Walls as a consultant to government and its agencies, and his role on behalf of government.
There will be no constraints on the scope of the audit. This independent audit will extend and complete an internal audit into business transactions within the Ministry of Children and Family Development that was initiated Dec. 9, 2003. The request for expressions of interest has been issued and it is expected the independent auditor will be appointed next week.
The comptroller general will supervise the independent auditor. In accordance with government practice, the terms of reference and the audit process and detailed report will be confidential. The Premier has directed that the independent auditor’s conclusions be released on completion of the audit.
