VICTORIA – Today Premier Gordon Campbell announced key
appointments in his office as he embarks on his second term of leadership for
the Province of British Columbia.
Jessica McDonald, previously deputy minister for strategic planning,
Office of the Premier, has been appointed deputy minister to the Premier and
cabinet secretary.
Philip Steenkamp, formerly deputy minister for the Ministry of Advanced
Education, is appointed deputy minister for strategic policy and social
development, Office of the Premier.
Dana Hayden, formerly deputy minister and CEO of the Crown Agencies
Secretariat, is appointed deputy minister for strategic policy, natural
resources and the economy, Office of the Premier. Both Steenkamp and Hayden
will report to McDonald in their new capacities.
Following a long and distinguished career in the public service, the
last four years as deputy minister to the Premier and cabinet secretary, Ken
Dobell will formally retire. Under a contract with the Premier’s Office, Dobell
will continue to lead key files on a part-time basis as special advisor to the
Premier and will maintain his roles as provincial appointee to the VANOC Board,
chair of the VANOC finance committee, and chair of the Vancouver Convention
Centre.
Brenda Eaton, formerly deputy minister for priority projects to the
Premier, will be appointed chair of the BC Housing Management Commission, and
will serve as a member of the BC Hydro board of directors.
